My dear sheep,
Some of you will be unaware of Babu and Grace Thomas. They are long-term missionaries in India. They have been doing translation work in the Halbi language for a number of years. Below is an update from them.
It is essential for people to have the Bible in their heart language. As the Westminster Confession of Faith reminds is (1.8), "The Old Testament in Hebrew, (which was the native language of the people of God of old,) and the New Testament in Greek, (which at the time of the writing of it was most generally known to the nations,) being immediately inspired by God, and by his singular care and providence kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentical; so as in all controversies of religion, the Church is finally to appeal unto them. But because these original tongues are not known to all the people of God, who have right unto and interest in the scriptures, and are commanded, in the fear of God, to read and search them, therefore they are to be translated into the vulgar language of every nation unto which they come, that the word of God dwelling plentifully in all, they may worship him in an acceptable manner, and, through patience and comfort of the scriptures, may have hope."
Please lift up the Thomas' and their work up in prayer to our God and Father.
Pastor Logan
Update from the Thomas'
It is a great privilege to get in touch with you again and to let you know that how the Lord is watching over us and those who work with us in the ministry. Halbi Old Testament Translation: The consultant check of Proverbs is progressing. Pray for the consultants Mr. Roman and the CIT Miss. Esther Lam. Babu is doing the back translation of the book of Zephaniah. The book of Isaiah is being drafted by Mr. Anil Nag and checked by Past. Bansidhar. Tailoring Classes: The students from the Madpal tailoring center also received their certificate on June 5th. The tailoring students had an opportunity to say how they benefitted from the course conducted by Bastar True Light Samiti (BTLS). They have already acquired tailoring machines and also willing to teach others free of charge. The new session will start by November, since people are busy with cultivation. New trainer has agreed to start a center. Please remember these students and those who completed their training in Koynar in your prayer as few of them not yet know Christ personally. Mrs. Sunita Nag has taken the responsibility of the Tailoring centers. Medical Camp: Initially Mr. Alex David and his wife Hepsiba, both BSc nurses took the responsibility and got permission from the Govt. office to conduct the Medical camp but as they met with a major road accident and they even lost their second son of 3 months old. Now they are undergoing treatments and it’s a long way to recovery. So, Brother Jim (the Secretary of BTLS) took the responsibility of conducting this Medical Camp. By Gods’ grace it was conducted on June 28 and 29 in Dugoli village of Bijapur Dist., which is 203 kilometers away from Jagdalpur, the district head quarter. Praise God for the Executive members of BTLS, who have taken the responsibility to conduct it even in our absence. According to the report we received, 551 patients were cared for and medicines were given free of charge. It was a good opportunity to make contact with the people groups in that area. Patients from 50 kilometers radius came to the medical camp, and will do follow up with them in the coming days. Please do remember the BTLS members in your prayers. Child Care Centers: Brother Sukhlal Baghel has taken the responsibility of Child Care programs: surveying, supervising and also supplying the children’s school needs. The Child Care centers will reopen by middle of July when the school summer holidays are over. Already have purchased all the school needs for the kids. Our Family: We are visiting USA at present. Our son David and family are leaving for Africa by the first week of August. We had to wait 8 months to see our grandson Zephen, also there was need to help the with packing and getting ready for their travel. While on our way to Houston we could visit Fraser and Dianne in Virginia, with their son Josh and family. Our daughter, Christine-Binoy and children are also doing well too.
